When you shop for carpet possibilities, you will eventually come across the terminology of something being solution-dyed. This is just one of many ways that carpet fibers can be dyed. However, do you know what solution dyed carpet benefits are?

The primary difference in terms of the final products is the fibers which have either been solution-dyed or the fibers were dyed using other methods. It’s useful to know a few things about solution dyeing before you go out and buy yourself a new carpet.

Solution dyeing is of course one technique that can be used to add colors to synthetic carpet fibers. There’s a lot of different ways of dyeing carpet fibers, but solution dyeing is so very different from all other methods that it gets a category all by itself.

Solution Dyed Carpet
Traditionally, carpet dyeing involves the fiber being produced first before the color is added. As such, the fibers would be produced as colorless, being somewhere between beige and gray, otherwise known as greige good. Once the fibers are made, they’d be dipped into dye for the color to get added. Solution dyeing means that color is actually added into the liquid state of various fiber components, earlier in the process before the fiber is physically produced. Synthetic fibers get made out of polymers or chemical compounds, based on what kind of fiber is involved. You should also know that solution dyeing only works for synthetic fibers. Since the color gets introduced before the fibers are even produced, it by nature can’t be used for natural fibers like wool since they already exist. Natural fibers have to be dyed from traditional or conventional methods since they are harvested from their sources. Solution dyed fibers and carpets have a number of advantages. The first is that they are much more colorfast. As compared to other fibers, they are a lot more resistant to color bleeding or fading. That’s because the color gets locked into every part of every fiber, whereas traditional fibers might have gaps. Those gaps aren’t visible to the naked eye, but under a microscope they are quite visible. A solution-dyed carpet is going to be a much better choice for anything subjected to intense levels of light, such as being outdoors or in bright rooms. Stain-resistance is another tremendous advantage of solution-dyed fibers. Since they don’t have the empty spots that traditional fibers might, they simply can’t be stained as easily. Also, it means that any present stains are easier to remove. You should know that solution-dyed carpets do possibly have one downside. That’s the simple fact that the variety of colors available might not be as diverse as traditionally dyed carpets. Having said that, most colors are available, and there are still plenty of options to choose from.
